This therapeutic oil painting was Stettner’s personal post 9/11 art therapy. At that time he started questioning why do humans act this way? Abstract drawings and paintings of animals became his therapy. This particularly painting project, of his pet bird Syndey, captures the gentle side of animals in an effort to get away from all the destruction and image of the buildings going down. Stettner’s way of dealing with the destruction was by producing paintings of animals and nature. Art therapy is a process of healing, through creative arts. In a social context, original art can serve to sooth the soul and promote popular morale.
