Born in New York City, Jim grew up in a predominantly Puerto Rican, working class neighborhood in Queens. As a teenager, the home situation deteriorated, Jim and his siblings were all separated. Jim ended up living in a foster home in upstate New York. During this period Jim tragically lost his only brother to suicide. Despite all this, or because of it, Jim graduated from college with honors, where he majored in the one thing that kept him sane in his youth, fine art. This widely collected and sought after New York born Artist creates paintings that will grow with you for years to come. Stettner had to deal with rejection like many miss understood artists before him. Though, he was always convinced that the more he was rejected, the more he was truly onto something good.Some of Stettner's paintings takes two to three years and layer upon layer to complete; a lot of emotion, thought and energy goes into each one.
