Opening Day of Salmon Season, 1994, original 28”x 45” oil on canvas.
This original oil painting was created after years of Stettner participating in opening day of salmon season at Sandy Creek, which flows north into Lake Ontario, one of the “Great Lakes” in Northeastern United States. Stettner did not participate to fish; he participated to observe the astounding beauty of these magnificent creatures on their yearly trek which gave him this painting idea. The crisp lines and balance were developed through Stettner’s digital art technique and his increasing eclectic view of the world. The wide range of color hues in this original painting are achieved through his painterly, but precise, bold strokes and constant use of bright, rich, vibrant colors.
