For this painting project Stettner began by drawing on the computer, printed it out on a black and white dot matrix printer. He then "collaged" the images together, until he found an interesting composition. Art critic Glenn Emerson wrote this about Impact: “As I sit here in front of my computer, the implications of this important new artist’s work becomes more apparent. Jim Stettner’s work is an experimental synthesis of high technology and traditional art. What seems to have begun as an exploration of digital art and image manipulation via computer has evolved into a powerful statement of the relationship between modern man and his machinery.” This canvas painting is influenced by some of Claude Monet’s later works, such as his famous painting The Japanese Footbridge at Giverny.
