Artist´s Statement

"Since the beginning of time, the creations made made by Artists have been influenced and affected by the materials and tools to which he or she had access."                    

My paintings are influenced by electronic imagery.  They are an experimental synthesis of high technology and traditional art.  I am inspired by faces, nature, and historical and political events.  My first ideas are a combination of sketches on paper and the computer.  The computer renderings and drawings generate the images, which eventually are developed on canvas.  I am intrigued with the juxtaposition of computer-generated images, the spontaneous approach to resolving color and compositional problems, combined with the more traditional approach to painting.  In the end, the manipulation of paint and the act of painting becomes the most important aspect of my work.  Through the use of layering and a full color palette, the result is ambiguous, playful, carnivalish, and a painterly surface that will educate the eye and emotions.
