Pepper and Steel
Stettner created this original work of art in 1991 while acquiring his B.F.A. at The State University of New York. This abstract drawing was purchased by Stettner’s Art History Professor, Dr. Chahab and now sits in Chahab’s private collection. Pepper and Steel is original abstract art that deals with the everyday battle in this world of mechanic verses organic. It illustrates the contrast between these two elements and how eventually they must find a way to live in harmony. The steel slab creates a barrier that entices the viewer and invites us to see what is behind the pierced section.
